Where Can I Serve?

Jesus was, above all, a servant.  One  important values of our parish is our outreach to the world around us. It begins in our own community, and spreads from there. Parish members can be involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as mowing the lawns, to assisting with communion.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

This ministry melds the warmth of a hug, the blessings of prayer, and a spiritual practice, to create an ongoing reminder that someone is in our thoughts and prayers. We are a group of women offering our gifts of talents and time to create and knit/crochet shawls for people in extra need of Christ’s comforting spirit. Shawls are blessed by our priest before giving to the recipient. These shawls have traveled far and wide, giving many people a lift from God’s unending love and strength. They are given to celebrate new life and to aid in dealing with loss. They have cheered many sick ones enduring cancer treatments, or in the hospital. They have left each recipient knowing they are not alone, and that they are cared for. We would be very happy for newcomers to join our group! There is never an end to the people benefiting from this work.
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month we meet at 1:30 p.m. in the church. Contact Sharon for more information at (403) 932-7485.

Music & Worship

Worship Band: God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. Please let Anne know if you would like to be a part of this ministry.
ReadersEach week we require a “Reader” who is willing to read the scriptures aloud, as well as the Prayers of the People. The text will be sent to you ahead of time if you need time to prepare.
Communion Assistants: On Sunday mornings you will notice we always have two assistants who help Greg with Eucharist. This is an important role to ensure that communion is executed efficiently and an opportunity to serve your church community. This is on a rotational basis, as little or as often as you are available.
Sides People: As “greeters”, these are the first people new-comers (and old-comers) see when they come to our church. Sidespeople are responsible for welcoming people as they enter for the Sunday morning service. They also take the offering and bring up the gifts. This is an important ministry within our parish and we can always use more willing volunteers!
Media & TechnologyThe technology ministry includes the multi-media, visual, and audio components of Sunday morning services. The slides you see, the videos you watch, the sound you hear, would not be possibly without the dedicated ministry of the tech team. If you are interested in this ministry please let us know, even if it’s only to volunteer occasionally to give the regular team a break! Speak to John.
Choir: On Wednesday nights at 7:30pm our choir rehearses together. This is a great time of music, fellowship, and worship. Please join us!

Altar Guild

This is a group responsible for preparing the altar for every church service throughout the year. This includes the Eucharist, weddings, funerals, and any other special services such as Christmas, Holy Week, Easter. This group also cares for the linens and silver and brass. This ministry is vital to the functioning of the services, yet a quiet, “behind-the-scenes” ministry.

Ministry to Seniors

Shut-ins: Within our parish are many elderly or infirm that are no longer able to attend services. These parishioners are often lonely and it is a real blessing to them to have a visit from someone in their faith community. Would you like to bless someone in this way? Speak to Marian or Christine if so.
Bethany Care Centre: We participate weekly in a worship service for Bethany Care Centre residents. This is an important service for many elderly living in the centre and they look forward to this time of fellowship. If you are able to help either regularly or occasionally, by reading, singing, or providing company, please let us know! Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m.
