Fr. Matthew explores the General Confession this week, beginning again with the rubrics. He explores the text of the invitation to confession, and then the text of the confession itself.
He highlights the difference between contrition (feeling sorry for your sins) and repentance (resolve to change your thoughts, words, and deeds to avoid sinning again). He further notes the importance of confessing sins "done" and "left undone" which speaks to both acts that we have done which are wrong, as well as those things which we ought to have done, but chose not to do.
He finishes up at the end of the confession, leaving the absolution and discussion of the general nature of the confession and role of private confession for next week.
