Father Matthew Perreault was ordained to the diaconate 3 August 2018 and to the priesthood 22 July 2019, before being appointed the Curate—an assistant priest—at All Saints, Cochrane in August 2019 for a two-year term. Matthew is married to Linzie Perreault, who he met at Nashotah House Theological Seminary while studying for his Master of Divinity degree. Matthew was born and raised in Calgary, and previously served at All Saints Cochrane from 2016-2018 as a Theological Student while attending Ambrose seminary in Calgary.
Fr. Matthew was raised in a Pentecostal tradition in Calgary, and introduced to Anglicanism by his grandmother. He soon grew to love the Canadian Book of Common Prayer and the Anglo-Catholic theological tradition within Anglicanism. He subscribes to Fr. Martin Thornton’s description of “English Spirituality,” the spiritual tradition of the Catholic Church in England dating back to the earliest days of Christianity. It emphasizes three distinctives: true piety, found in the threefold regula of Eucharist, Daily Office, and private prayer; sound learning, through immersion in the Scripture and sensitivity to poetry and other forms of artistic human expression; and constant charity, exercised in particular with respect to family friends, with respect for their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. He also has a fondness for the Anglican Choral Tradition and particularly the choral offices and Great Litany.
He is well known for his appreciation of tea and marmalade.
